Your Visit

What to Expect at Your Visit

Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, here's how to make the most of your appointment.

Before You Arrive

Arrive a few minutes early so we can get you checked in. If it's your first visit, bring any previous medical records, vaccination history, and a list of medications or supplements your pet currently takes. For nervous pets, a favorite blanket or toy from home can help them feel more at ease in the waiting room.

During the Exam

Our veterinary team will perform a nose-to-tail exam, checking weight, teeth, eyes, ears, heart, lungs, skin, and joints. We'll talk through any concerns you have and discuss preventative care recommendations tailored to your pet's age, breed, and lifestyle. You'll leave with a clear picture of your pet's health and a plan for next steps.

What to Bring

  • Always bring a fresh stool sample
  • Previous vet records and vaccination history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Your pet on a leash or in a secure carrier
  • Any questions you'd like to ask the doctor

Preparing Your Pet

Keep your pet's routine as normal as possible on the day of the visit. For dogs, a short walk beforehand can help burn off nervous energy. Cats generally travel best in a carrier they're already familiar with — leave it out at home a day or two before the visit with a blanket inside. If your pet tends to be anxious at the vet, let us know when you book so we can plan extra time and a calmer environment.

Visit Types

Types of Visits

From routine wellness exams to urgent sick visits, we're here when your pet needs us.

Wellness Exams

Annual and semi-annual checkups are the foundation of preventative care. We'll assess your pet's overall health, update vaccinations, run routine bloodwork, and discuss nutrition, dental care, and parasite prevention. Catching problems early almost always means simpler and more affordable treatment.

Sick Visits

If your pet is showing signs of illness — vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, limping, loss of appetite, or anything out of the ordinary — call us to schedule a same-day appointment. We'll work to get your pet seen as quickly as possible and start diagnostics right away.

Scheduling & Walk-ins

We are an appointment-based clinic and recommend scheduling in advance through PetDesk or by calling us at 231-335-1911. Same-day appointments are available when possible. Please note that we do not accept walk-ins on Wednesdays (surgery day), and the clinic is closed from 12–1 PM daily for lunch.
